It’s a new Thanksgiving tradition in Austin. Make that a Black Friday tradition.
Grageriart is back with another showing of “Design 4 Everyone,” a brilliantly weird, open-ended performance that satirizes consumer culture. The brain child of Rude Mech theater artist Lana Lesley and composer Peter Stopschinski, Grageriart might be the ultimate concept band in that it’s both a concept — and a two-person band.
Last year on Black Friday weekend, Lesley and Stopschinski put on their Grageriart show in their garage for small audiences.

Then earlier this year, Lesley and Stopschinki gave the show a little more theatrical flourish when they moved it into the Crash Box, the Rude Mechs’ rehearsal studio. Now, choreographed dancers, lighting and an artful set heighten the absurdist theatricalization of mindless consumption, home shopping catalogues — and desperation.
This current round of shows are also a YouTube micro-video series launch. Beginning Nov. 9, Grageriart will drop a new super short video each week for an entire year.
Three shows Nov. 29-30.rudemechs.com/events And plenty of Grageriart merchandise to buy too.
