Texas receives over $1.5 million in NEA grants and fellowships

Austin-based writers KB Brookins and Bradley Trumpfheller awarded $25,000 NEA Literature Fellowships

In its first round of recommended grants for fiscal year 2023, the National Endowment of the Arts has award $1,514,000 to Texas arts organizations and Texas artists.

Among the individual grantees are Austin-based writers KB Brookins and Bradley Trumpfheller, both of whom received $25,000 individual Literature Fellowships. Poet Rodney Gomez of McAllen also received a Literature Fellowship.

Austin area organization that received grants are:

      • American Short Fiction — $12,000
      • Art Spark Texas — $50,000
      • Austin Film Festival — $25,000
      • Austin Film Society — $20,000
      • Austin Independent School District — $100,000
      • Ballet Austin —  $10,000
      • Beyond the Grade — $10,000
      • Creative Action — $45,000
      • Deaf Austin Theatre — $10,000
      • DORF — $10,000
      • Hispanic Alliance for the Performing Arts — $30,000
      • Puerto Rican Cultural Center — $10,000
      • Tapestry Dance Company —  $25,000
      • Women & Their Work — $40,000
      • Zachary Scott Theatre Center — $25,000
