Rude Mechs co-present The Breath Project Festival

-

Austin theater collective Rude Mechs is co-presenting the Breath Project Virtual Fall Festival, streaming online Oct. 24 and 25.

The festival features a selection of the 8-minute-and-46-second performances, all created by BIPOC artists, that exist on The Breath Project Archive.

Created by New York theater artist Gamal Abdel Chasten, The Breath Project has been gathering taped versions of live performances, each of which is 8 minutes and 46 seconds in length. The Rude Mechs is one of 17 theater companies participating in the national initiative to foster work by multidisciplinary theater artists of color.

Each of the three festival performances features different pieces, as well as live commentary by project curators including Austin’s own Crystal Bird Caviel. A Q&A with the artists follows each performance.

Reservations are free, but donations are welcome. Donations go directly to the artists. Make reservations at thebreathproject2020.com/festival
