The George Washington Carver Museum is collaborating with artist Rehab El Sadek on #carvershares, a photography campaign on social media.
Contributors from Austin and around the world are invited to share photos of their daily lives. People of all ages and artistic abilities are welcome.
The #carvershares campaign is part of the ArtsResponders: Social Practice Responds to COVID-19, a program launched in August by the city of Austin’s Parks and Recreation Department.
El Sadek has come up with themes to encourage participitants. The goal of #carvershares is to find common ground and communicate with one another through compelling images — seeing and feeling each other makes us happy and gives us a sense of purpose.
In addition to being shared on Instagram, the photos will be joined together in a photo-collages and displays at the Carver Museum in the future.
