Black Voices concert streams free at Austin Chamber Music Festival

The Austin Chamber Music Festival’s “Black Voices” concert will be streamed live 7:30 p.m. July 3. And like all of the festival’s offerings, the event is free.

“Black Voices” celebrates  African American composers and musicians. The program includes William Grant Still’s “A Deserted Plantation,” “Louisiana Blues Strut (A Cakewalk)” by Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson and music by Adolphus Hailstork.

Featured performer is Austin pianist Artina McCain. She will be joined by violinist Anyango Yarbo-Davenport, cellist Derek Menchan, flutist Ebonee Thomas and bassoonist Lecolion Washington, Jr.

The Zoom event opens at 7:30 pm CT with a pre-concert talk starting at 7:35 p.m. The concert begins at 8 p.m. CT.
