The Austin Creative Alliance today clarified that its Artists Emergency Fund grant program is available for to cover reproductive healthcare.
In a statement released today the non-profit alliance said:
“We want to make sure everyone in the cultural community is aware that our existing emergency grant program is available for all instances of healthcare insecurity. We have explicitly modified the eligibility language to be clear that funds may be used to cover travel, lodging and procedures needed to obtain necessary reproductive healthcare.”
Working artists may apply for up to $1000 in restricted funds to cover travel, lodging and procedure expenses related to reproductive care.
Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and are subject to verification and available funds. Priority will be given to alliance member artists.
The alliance started the emergency fund in March 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic. To date it has raised more than $200,000 that has gone to more than 300 artists. As pandemic-related emergencies recede, the alliance is broadening the scope of the grant program.
