The 2021 Texas Book Festival will be a hybrid virtual and live event, festival organizers have announced.
Beginning on Monday, Oct. 25, virtual sessions will lead up to a weekend of live events on the grounds of the Texas State Capitol and along Congress Avenue in downtown Austin, wrapping up on Oct. 31. And its gala fundraiser on Oct. 29 will be an in-person event with indoor and outdoor seating options available.
One of the larger festivals in Austin, the Texas Book Festival last year was entirely virtual, with nine days of online author talks.
“The constraints and challenges last year only strengthened our resolve to reach readers in any and every way we could,” said Lois Kim, festival executive director. “We are proud that we were able to connect more than 75,000 people to authors through our 2020 virtual programming efforts and excited to use all that we learned about digital programming while welcoming people back to enjoy a safe, outdoor in-person Festival this year.”
