Texas Performing Arts is set to present a range of virtual offerings from the noted Jazz at Lincoln Center program.

WeBop is Jazz at Lincoln Center’s early-childhood jazz education program. The eight-week Saturday morning interactive virtual class runs Oct. 17 –Dec. 12 and is taught live from Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York by Mr. Tim (Tim Sullivan) on Zoom. The classes for children and their caregivers will cover fundamental concepts such as swing, tempo, dynamics, scat, solo, call and response, and song form. Classes incorporate live and recorded music with ritual songs, educational activities, and storytelling.

For adults, it’s Swing University’s “Jazz 101: A Beginner’s Guide to Jazz,” a free Thursday night virtual class Oct. 29-Nov. 19.

And on Oct. 30, it’s a virtual concert of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra Septet’s performing “The Sounds of Democracy,” led by world-renowned trumpeter and composer Wynton Marsalis.
