It’s that time again.
In even-numbered years, the Texas Commission on the Arts puts out the call to citizens of Texas to submit nominations for Texas State Artists.
There are four categories of State Artist: poet laureate, musician, two-dimensional artist and three-dimensional artist.
Nominees must be native Texans or have resided in the state for at least five years. They must have attained the highest levels of excellence and success in their respective disciplines and earned a statewide, regional or national reputation.
And yes, self-nominations are encouraged.
Nominations will be accepted online at txoriginal.com through October 15, 2022.
The Texas State Legislature officially designates the Texas State Artists during the Legislative Session, in odd-numbered years.
