Prose & Puns is Austin’s only literary comedy show

-

Austin’s literary funsters are teaming for a double bill at 8 p.m. Feb. 25 at Last Stand Brewery.

Wendi Aarons (author of “I’m Wearing Tunics Now” and “Ginger Mancino, Kid Comedian”) and Martha Louise (Zom-Com and Star Shine Films) headline this live-reading, live-punning show from Austin’s funniest writers.

The double-header event will kick off with Worded Funny, featuring readings from Austin’s best humor writers. Be enchanted by readings from contributors to McSweeney’s, The New Yorker, the Washington Post, Austin Monthly, and Slackjaw!

In the second half of the night, Punspoken will present its one part hip hop, one part middle school English class, and one part stand up showcase. Four performers will show off their punning word play.

But an entertaining evening alone isn’t enough for Prose & Puns’ creative producers, who also planned a creative meetup before the show and a party afterward. Whether audiences are writers, comedians, artists, podcasters, or just make cool stuff, they can join this short, low-key meetup before the show to meet new collaborators and foster new friendships.
