In the first of two fiscal year 2019 grant announcements, the National Endowment of the Arts today named recipients of three of the agency’s funding categories: Art Works and Challenge America to support projects by nonprofit organizations, and Creative Writing Fellowships.
Texas was awarded 52 grants in a total of $1,277,000. The Austin area recipients are:
- Austin Film Society — $25,000
- Austin Independent School District — $50,000
- Creative Action— $50,000
- Fusebox Festival — $25,000
- Puerto Rican Folkloric Dance — $20,000
- TILT Performance Group — $10,000
- Tapestry Dance Company — $10,000
- Women & Their Work — $25,000
Austin-based poet Charlie Clark received a $25,000 NEA Creative Writing Fellowship. Literature and translation fellowships are the NEA’s only grants to individual artists still available.
