Meow Wolf, the popular Santa Fe-based arts entertainment company, recently announced their next permanent location will open this summer in Grapevine. Opening in Grapevine Mills mall, located between Dallas and Fort Worth, it will be the company’s fourth permanent “portal” and first in Texas.
Boasting 29,000 square feet of immersive exhibition space spread across 30 rooms, the location, whose theme has yet to be announced, will feature the work of more than 30 Texas-based artists. In addition to the immersive experience, the Grapevine location will feature a retail space and venue for live music. They will also host local vendors as well as community events.

Throughout the latter part of last year, Meow Wolf held several engagement meetings in the North Texas area to gather input and feedback from the community regarding the project.
In an announcement about the opening, Kelly Schwartz, general manager of Meow Wolf Grapevine, said, “The countdown is on to our opening this summer! We are hiring like mad and the construction barriers that have been put up at Grapevine Mills can barely hold the collective imagination within. I can’t wait for you to see what we are creating for you.”
While this might be the company’s first permanent location in Texas, this is not its first time in the Lone Star State. At SXSW 2018, Meow Wolf presented The Atrium, its first virtual reality experience. The company also hosted an additional temporary immersive project titled Fractallage and premiered their documentary Meow Wolf: Origin Story.
More recently, they produced an auditory experience in collaboration with Spatial as part of last year’s SXSW. Several of Meow Wolf’s employees also sat on a number of the festival’s panels.
The company’s fifth permanent location is slated to open in the Fifth Ward of Houston in 2024. Specific details regarding that project have yet to be revealed.
Started in 2008 as a DIY artist collective, Meow Wolf is now a for-profit corporation with permanent locations in Santa Fe, Las Vegas and Denver.
