Got ideas for Austin’s creative space problems? The city wants to hear from you

Salvage Vanguard Theater on Manor Road, which closed in 2016 after 10 years in operation.

Proposition B of the Austin’s voter-approved 2018 municipal bond package included $12 million in funding for creative space.

And now, the city’s Joint Arts & Music Commissions Working Group wants your input on what to do with it.  The Creative Space Community Survey is open and the city invites any  to weigh in”

And while you’re at it, you can take the 2019 iteration of the city’s ongoing Creative Space Survey. Results from it will also be considered as the city weighs what to do with the bond money.

Earlier this month, city announced its new Creative Space Assistance Program (CSAP) program which has $750,000 in available funding.  Organizations may apply for a financial assistance grant of up to $50,000 to defray rent hikes, property acquisition costs, or other space-related needs.
