The City of Austin today announced the 10 artists and/or arts organizations selected for the 2019 Creative Ambassadors Program, a join initiative of the Cultural Arts Division and the Music and Entertainment Division.
Ambassadors are chosen by an independent selection panel comprised of local Austin artists and arts administrators. Selected artists were evaluated on their level of expertise including the number of years they have been working in their artistic field and any awards or recognition they have received. Ambassadors are appointed for a period of one year.
The program provides stipends of $1000 to artists who travel to present their creative work outside of Texas. Cultural ambassadors also meet with key arts leaders and arts administrators in their destination cities — meet-ups designed to be both information-sharing and to explore possibilities for collaboration or creative exchange.
