Blanton Museum closes due to omicron variant concerns

Taking the recommendations of the University of Texas administration, the Blanton Museum of Art announced today that it will be closed through Jan. 12 due to concerns over the omicron coronavirus variant.

The museum also cancelled all university and school group visits and scheduled public tours through January.

The Blanton plans to resume regular hours on Jan. 12, but directs the public to check its  Before You Visit page for updates.

UT President Jay Hartzell announced yesterday that in-person classes will be suspended for the first two weeks of the spring semester, Faculty will have the choice to hold in-person classes between Jan. 18 and Jan. 28 as long as they also provide a virtual option. The UT campus will remain open, including the dining halls.
