The annual Austin Film Society grants have helped a lot of Texas filmmakers, with funds going to such people as Iliana Sosa for “What We Leave Behind,” which recently won the Louis Black Lone Star Award at the South by Southwest Film Festival.
The 2022 AFS Grant for Feature Films applications have opened, and it might be a chance to get a big boost for your film project. To help you prepare for an application, the society is holding three webinars.
The webinars begin April 28 at 6 p.m., via Zoom, with a general overview of the application process.
On May 18 at 6 p.m., the society will focus on narrative features. And on May 31 at 6 p.m., AFS will focus on documentary features. Applications are open through June 6.
Since its inception in 1996, the AFS Grant has awarded more than $2.2 million in cash grants and $340,000 in-kind goods and services to 425 Texas filmmakers. The society also provides cash stipends to Texas filmmakers traveling to prestigious film festival through the AFS Travel Grant program.
AFS has also unveiled a new webpage for Creative Careers, a workforce development program. For more information, visit austinfilm.org.
