Organizers of the Austin Dance Festival have announced the line-up for 2019 iteration of three-day modern dance celebration running April 5 through 7. Some 20 modern dance companies from around the country will be featured.
From New York comes Sarah Lapinsky Dance and Tiffany Mills Company. The Salt Lake City-based LajaMartin will be making its Austin debut at the festival as will California dancemakers Courtney Mazeika and Marlie Couto.
Among the regional talents are Houston’s NobleMotion Dance and Social Movement Contemporary Dance, along with Dallas’ Bruce Woods Dance. Eight Austin-based choreographers are featured too including Alyson Dolan, Ellen Bartel, Andrea Ariel, Cheryl Copeland, Lisa Kobdish and Kelsey Oliver.
Produced by Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company, the festival will once again take place downtown at AustinVentures Studio Theatre at Ballet Austin.
Festival events include a dance on film screening, master classes, a community pop-up dance, and live interviews with dancemakers. And a youth showcase features performances by 24 troupes from around Texas.
