With its previously planned festival cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Austin Asian American Film Festival is now launching an online fest of short films.
The event features some 36 documentary and narrative short films by a wide array of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) media artists.
You can purchase a pass to the entire six-hour lineup for $11.99 and screen at your convenience during the June 11-17 festival run.
Series passes are on sale now at vimeo.com/ondemand/aaaff
Beginning on the first day of festival, you can buy a pass for $2.99 to one of seven of themed groups and see the entire line-up at aaafilmfest.org/austin-asian-american-film-festival-announces-2020-virtual-lineup/
“The opportunity to create an online shorts festival made it possible for us to highlight more films and filmmakers than we would usually be able to,” said AAAFF Executive Director Hanna Huang.
“Just as the world has had to adapt to the current circumstances, we had to do so to continue our work in supporting AAPI stories on screen. The xenophobia and anti-Asian racism that has been stoked along with the pandemic only highlights the urgency of our mission.”
