Art Alliance Austin names new ED

Art Alliance Austin has named Patricia Shults as its new executive director, the non-profit organization announced today.

Most recently Shults served as CEO of the Sonoma Valley Chamber of Commerce in California. During her three-year tenure, she spearheaded the creation of both a Creative
Alliance and an Innovation Alliance aimed at increasing opportunities, education, and funding for those in the creative economy.

Prior to her position in California, Shults lived in Austin and was Vice President of Member Engagement at the Great Austin Chamber of Commerce.

“I speak on behalf of the entire board when I say we believe Patricia’s vision around what the Alliance is and can be – along with her ability to engage in collaborative relationships – will be an effective complement to the work the Alliance does,” said Board Chair, Eric Hiduke.

Shults takes the position formerly held by Jade Walker. With the impending birth of her third child, the artist and former long-time director of UT’s Visual Arts Center has transitioned to a position on  the Alliance board’s



“I am excited and have full confidence that Patricia’s is going to be an exceptional leader for the Alliance,” said Walker.

Shults begins Feb. 1,

Art Alliance Austin produces several events that connect the public to Austin’s contemporary art scene.
